Hi, I’m Ali Kozoll…
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my husband, son, and dog.
My early career was spent as a theatre actress throughout California. I earned my M.F.A. in Acting from American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco which is where I fell in love with the studies of breath and voice work, embodied practice, and authentic emotional expression. The art of acting is to show up with embodied presence, connect with the present moment, and to PLAY. The essence of acting serves as the foundation for my work as an embodiment teacher.
I’ve been guiding women of all ages in embodiment through sensual movement (and pole dancing!) since 2005. The movement practice that drew me into teaching centers on practicing greater body acceptance, embodying “the Feminine”, and connecting to sensual-erotic energy in the body as a source of vitality. I spent 15 years teaching classes & workshops, training teachers, leading retreats, writing creative content, and developing curriculum at S Factor, which is one of my teaching lineages.
I am a certified RYT Yoga Teacher. I received my 200-hr yoga training at Black Dog Yoga in Los Angeles in 2008 and more recently trained in Trauma-Informed Yoga with Zabie Yamasaki, M.Ed., RYT.
My motherhood journey has led me to widen my knowledge base and to pursue various creative paths. I trained as a Postpartum Doula, which gave me the tools for supporting mothers and families during the tender time after birth. I also served as a peer-to-peer support counselor and maternal mental health advocate with a non-profit organization called Postpartum Progress, during which I was certified in Mental Health First Aid. I now lead virtual Mother’s Circles at the beginning of each season. In 2019 I created and hosted ten episodes of a podcast called Being Mom which features moms talking about the beautiful roller coaster ride of being a mother. You can listen from anywhere podcasts are found or read more here.
If I can’t be at the ocean breathing in the salty air and romping in the waves, then I want to be deep in a forest next to a hidden waterfall. Being in Nature feels like freedom to me. My favorite animal is the Wolf! They inspire me to howl often, especially during a Full Moon, a ritual I share with my son.
