Hi, I’m Ali Kozoll…
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me!
The hills and shores of the San Francisco Bay Area are where I feel truly at home. Having grown up, studied, and thrived here years ago, I recently moved back with my husband, son, and dog.
Surrounded by nature is where I feel most alive and experience freedom from the bustling of daily life. If I can’t be at the ocean breathing in the salty air and romping in the waves, then I want to be deep in a forest next to a hidden waterfall. My love for our natural world often inspires my teaching.
I first fell in love with the studies of accessing our authentic emotional expression through breath and voice work, and body awareness practices while earning my M.F.A in Acting from American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. The art of acting is to fully connect with the body, show up with attention to the present moment, and PLAY. These principles of acting are the foundation for my work as an embodiment teacher.
I’ve been guiding people of all ages through intuitive, sensual movement (and pole dancing!) since 2005. I was drawn into teaching by a practice for women interested in greater body acceptance and learning how to BE an example of sourcing vitality through connection to sensually pleasurable energy in the body. I dedicated 15 years to teaching classes & workshops in this medium; training teachers; leading retreats; writing creative content; and developing curriculum.
The development of my relationship to leading people in movement also includes certification as an RYT 200-hr, Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher.
I am honored to have learned from and worked with teachers in a variety of disciplines:
Black Dog Yoga (Sigrid Matthews, Peter Barnett, Jenny Brill) - Los Angeles
Jeff Crockett, Breath & Voicework Teacher - San Francisco
Kendra Cunov, Relational Teacher & Coach - Northern California
Sheila Kelley, founder of S Factor Movement Inc. - Los Angeles
John Wineland, Embodied Intimacy Teacher - Los Angeles
Kimberly Ann Johnson, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner & Teacher - San Diego
Zabie Yamasaki, M.Ed., RYT. - Los Angeles
My motherhood journey has led me to widen my knowledge base and pursue additional creative paths besides teaching movement. I am a Postpartum Doula, which gives me the tools for supporting mothers and families during the tender time after birth. I also served as a peer-to-peer support counselor and maternal mental health advocate with a non-profit organization called Postpartum Progress. It was there that I also became certified in Mental Health First Aid. I now lead virtual Mother’s Circles at the beginning of each season throughout the year.
In 2019 I created a podcast called Being Mom and hosted ten episodes that featured moms talking about the beautiful roller coaster ride of being a mother. You can listen from anywhere podcasts are found or read more here.
Please let me know a little about you and stay in touch by signing up for my mailing list below…
With Love,
Ali
P.S. My favorite animal is the Wolf! They inspire me to howl often, especially during a Full Moon, a ritual I share with my son. What animals inspire you?
